PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new use of an ester compound for the control of harmful arthropods. SOLUTION: An ester compound expressed by formula (1) (R is a 2-6C alkyl, 3, 3, 3-trifluoropropyl, 2-methyl-3, 3, 3-trifluoropropyl, a 3-6C cycloalkyl or a (3-6C cycloalkyl)1-2C alkyl) is used as an active component of an agent for the control of harmful arthropods, a method for the control of harmful arthropods by applying an active amount of the ester compound to the harmful arthropods or the living site of the harmful arthropods.
