PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling system for an electronic cam-type rotary cutter, which prevents the reverse rotation of the cutter. SOLUTION: In a process for controlling a servo-motor-driven rotary cutter of the electronic cam type, in which the cutting of long materials and that of short materials are controlled by means of different speed patterns based on electronic cam curves, a speed pattern in which speed will not decline during the cutting of extremely long materials, is formed so as to prevent the reverse rotation of the cutter.
