PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod body for a fishing rod capable of lightly handling the rod by reducing feeling of the rod weight by reducing the weight relating to coating. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fishing rod comprises a step forming a rod material 5 by winding and polymerizing more than one prepreg layers formed by soaking a resin into reinforcing fibers aligned by pulling them and then spirally winding a narrow width tape for molding around the axis of the rod material 5, a step baking the rod material 5 in this state and then releasing the tape, and a step forming an interference thin layer 8, which manifests color by utilizing light interference, on the remaining spiral uneven outer peripheral surface 5A of the rod material 5 by adhering deposited materials by a physical or chemical vapor deposition method.
