PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid such danger that a fork, when meeting a section, which is inclined upward and intersects the pick up direction when sliding while coming into contact with a separation sheet, breaks the section, removes even the separation sheet and drops all the pile on the separation sheet. SOLUTION: This device is used for picking up the blank pile 2 arranged in at least one layer 4a on a separation sheet 5, which is practically horizontal. A fork 8, which can move in the given picking up direction 9 and moves in front of and behind the separation sheet 5 to continuously pick up the pile 2 by sliding while coming into contact with the separation sheet 5, is provided with a skid 20, which is pivotally supported on the free end of the fork 8. The skid 20 slides while coming into contact with the separation sheet 5 and rocks around the practically horizontal axis 21 intersecting in a picking up direction 9 in relation to the fork 8.
