<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a real time radiation treatment planning system which is used in effecting radiation therapy of a pre-selected anatomical portion of an animal body. <P>SOLUTION: The treatment means, in order to convert image data obtained by imaging means to a three-dimensoinal picture of an anatomical portion, comprises a three-dimensional imaging algorithm and a three-dimensional image resolution algorithm for a specified organ and a needle inside the anatomical portion, wherein the means uses a genetic optimization algorithm through mono-purpose or multipurpose anatomy to determine in real time the optimal number of hollow needles, the position of at least one of them, the position of an energy source inside the each hollow needle and the residence time of the energy source at the position for an previous plan or a virtual simulation, and uses a real time three dimensional picture data to determine the practical positions of the needle and the residence times of the above energy source at various positions for the post-treatment planning. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
