PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and a scaling method for the image processor for performing scaling in tile units with little memory capacity.

SOLUTION: A scaling part 2116 of a digital copier is connected through a memory bus 2108 to an external memory. A memory interface 5 writes image data inputted from a tile slave interface 4 in an external memory in tile image units. Then, the memory interface 5 reads the tile image written in the external memory and transmits it to a scaling block 6. The scaling block 6 performs scaling on the tile image, and outputs it to a tile buffer 7. A tile master interface 8 outputs the tiel image of the tile buffer 7 to a tile bus.
