PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consumable electrode type gas shielded arc welding method for preventing generation of short circuits or arc cutting in a preceding wire start period T1, and obtaining sufficient penetration, and beautiful welding bead appearance with less spatters. SOLUTION: In a consumable electrode type gas shield arc welding method in which a preceding wire A1 and a succeeding wire B1 are fed in one torch, a succeeding arc B3 is generated in a succeeding wire tip B1a when the succeeding wire tip B1a reaches the arc generation position of a preceding wire tip A1a after a preceding arc A3 is generated in the preceding wire tip A1a, the preceding wire start set voltage V1 which is the set voltage of the of the preceding wire start period T1 before the succeeding arc B3 is generated in the succeeding wire tip B1a after the preceding arc A3 is generated in the preceding wire tip A1a is preset to be higher than the preset stationary welding set voltage Vs during the stationary welding of the preceding wire A1.
