The optical fibre element consists of optical fibre (1), e.g. glass fibre (1a) coated by plastics layer (1b). The optical fibre is surrounded by plastics layer (2) of silicone resin, itself wrapped in blocking protection layer. The blocking protection layer consists of individual elements (3) of plastics coated glass fibres and/or polyaramide multifilaments. The blocking protection layer is enveloped by jacket (4) of polyamide. Independent claims are included for optical fibre cable.
