The plug-in fastening may be for the end of a ''Bowden'' (RTM) cable. The cap (8) fits over the end of the hollow cylinder (6) and incorporates a clamping ring (13) which engages in grooves (14,25) in the outer surface of the cylinder. A spigot (9) passing through the cup has a chamfered end (10) and fits inside the cylinder. The fastening assembly includes a spring (12) and a fixing element (11) with a split ring (15).
