<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems such as update of a software code of a machine using a replaceable unit, without requiring any call for a field engineer and the like. <P>SOLUTION: A replaceable assembly 1 separable from the machine 100 such as a printer and having a memory is prepared, while the memory 30 (CRUM) stores the software code of an operable instruction related to the operation of the machine inside itself. Then, the replaceable subassembly is placed inside the machine, the memory is read, and the software code of the stored operable instruction is placed inside the machine as a new software code.
