摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the drive frequency and printing speed by reducing residual pressure vibrations or position variations of a meniscus after ink in an ink channel is jetted. SOLUTION: For jetting ink from a pressure chamber 7c of a shearing mode type ink jet head, the pressure chamber 7c is expanded and contracted by controlling actuators 9c and 9d. An actuator 9e which constitutes a pressure chamber 7d is driven in association with the expansion and contraction to reduce the pressure generated in the pressure chamber 7d, whereby the residual pressure vibrations of the pressure chamber 7d are reduced. A time interval after the ink is jetted from the pressure chamber 7c before the ink is jetted from the pressure chamber 7d can be shortened because of the reduction of the residual vibrations, so that the printing speed can be improved.
