OPTICAL DISK AND DEVICE FOR DRIVING OPTICAL DISK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk driving device capable of recording data with a different quality on the same disk, quickly reading the attribute of each part in the optical disk and recording and changing respective attributes of the recording areas on the different surfaces on the disk of the optical disk. SOLUTION: In this optical disk, a recording area attribute for designating whether a corresponding recording area is an area allowing rewriting or an area that does not allow rewriting is respectively set in a first recording area and a second recording are formed on surfaces different from each other. Data representing the recording area attributes of the first and second recording areas area recorded in a structure management table provided at a prescribed position of the disk. The recording area attribute of the first recording area is different form the recording area attribute of the second recording area. The optical disk driving device is provided with a means for recording the recording area attributes in the structure management table and a means for changing the recording area attributes recorded in the structure management table.
