PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data writing device capable of reducing power consumption during a writing operation without lowering the accuracy thereof. SOLUTION: A read channel section 5 reads the address information from a plurality of sectors on a recording medium 6, and a write channel section 10 writes data in each sector. A controller section 4 operates the read channel section to read the address information during a writing operation, and executes a writing operation by the write channel section 10 based on the address information. The controller section 4 is provided with a power-down control part 12a for outputting a power-down signal PD to the read channel section 5 to stop its operation. During the data writing operation, the power-down control part 12a outputs the power-down signal PD to the read channel section 5 to read the address information only from partial sectors.
