The method involves determining whether a sensor velocity exceeds a chosen threshold by determining a difference between the sensor velocity and the threshold. The difference is subtracted from the velocity, and the threshold and the difference are compared to the threshold. The acceleration influence of a rollover algorithm is changed when the selected sensor velocity exceeds the chosen threshold. An Independent claim is also included for a system for determining a type of vehicle crash event.
