A workflow management architecture is described. A first workflow view represents an abstraction of a first workflow associated with a first party. Similarly, a second workflow view represents a second workflow of a second party. A coalition workflow view referencing the first and second workflow views provides a collaborative workflow between the first and second parties. Thus, multiple parties may easily partner with one another to accomplish a business objective, while maintaining confidentiality of their workflow processes. Techniques for modifying an abstraction level of a workflow are described, such as may be used with the collaborative workflow, as well as techniques for making transformations between combined and individual workflows (e.g., between the two workflow views and the collaborative workflow). In implementing the workflow and workflow view of, for example, the first party, the workflow and workflow view may be compiled into an aggregate workflow and executed in a workflow engine.
|
