PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to achieve improved user convenience by permitting the microwave oven to have an ultraviolet sterilization function. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises a cavity(36) having a cooking chamber(32) for cooking or sterilization; a porous unit(62) formed at the top surface of the cavity so as to allow for passage of ultraviolet rays; an ultraviolet lamp(64) for radiating ultraviolet rays from above the porous unit; and a cover assembly(74) for protecting and fixing the ultraviolet lamp. The cover assembly includes a cover(76) having a reflecting surface for reflecting the ultraviolet ray; a lamp support hole(78) for fixing the ultraviolet lamp; and a flange(82) to be coupled with the top surface of the cavity.
