PURPOSE: A toothed belt and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve jumping performance, durability, and response property, to reduce driving friction, and to prevent abnormal noise. CONSTITUTION: A toothed belt(10) with a toothed surface comprises a belt body made of thermoplastic elastomer(15); a cord(16) embedded in the belt body to function as an extension member; and a cover fabric(12) for covering the toothed surface. A method for manufacturing the toothed belt is composed of steps for forming a preform of thermoplastic elastomer; forming an assembly body by assembling the cover fabric, the cord, and the preform to a mold; pressurizing and heating the assembly body from the outside of the mold; and forming saw teeth on the surface of the assembly body by heating the assembly body from the inside of the mold for the predetermined time over the crystallization temperature and lower than the melting point of the thermoplastic elastomer.
