PURPOSE: Provided is a protective layer resin composition which is not affected by oxygen under light exposure, has excellent developing property for reducing residues as well as good heat resistance, and maintains excellent chemical resistance without an epoxy resin, by using a binder resin having a certain range of molecular weight. CONSTITUTION: The protective layer resin composition for color filter comprises: (A) 1-40 pts.wt. of binder resin having 3000-6000 of weight average molecular weight, prepared by copolymerizing monomers represented by formulas I, II and III in a molar ratio of 1:2-4:2-8, (B) 1-20 pts.wt. of photopolymerizable acrylic monomer, (C) 0.1-1 pts.wt. of photopolymerization initiator, and (D) 20-80 pts.wt. of solvent. In the formulas, R is a hydrogen atom, C1-C10 of alkyl, ally, phenyl, benzyl or C1-C8 of ethoxy group, and X is a halogen atom.
