PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for replacing a steel bridge of a railway bridge with a concrete bridge is provided to have excellent constructability and stability on construction. CONSTITUTION: The method for replacing a steel bridge of a railway bridge with a concrete bridge using a gabent comprises the steps of: installing a hydraulic jack(60J1) on the upper part of a self-propelling gabent installed perpendicularly on both inner parts between an abutment and a pier(500) to support the existing girder(300); locating the hydraulic jack(60J1) on the lower part of the existing girder(300) by driving the self-propelling gabent and pulling up the existing girder(300) by driving the hydraulic jack(60J1), then dismantling the existing shoe(400) and installing a jack for keeping the function of a shoe unit; installing a new shoe pad and a new shoe between jacks; placing concrete slab on a hydraulic jack fixed to the top of the self-propelling gabent; dismantling the existing girder(300) and the jack for keeping the function of a shoe unit, then replacing with new concrete slab; and filling up the concrete slab with gravels, then placing a sleeper and a rail.
