LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To provide a reflective liquid crystal display device which uses a frontlight and the display quality of which is improved by reducing moire fringes, and a semitransmissive liquid crystal display device which uses a backlight. CONSTITUTION: A projecting and recessing pattern of a reflection plate 13 are constructed by combining a plurality of blocks arranged in an array. A fundamental projecting and recessing pattern EL1 of which both end parts in a direction identical to a direction of arrangement of prism grooves are continuous and which corresponds to an element or a pixel is formed. At the same time, three elements obtained by dividing the fundamental projecting and recessing pattern EL1 along the direction identical to the direction of the arrangement of the prism grooves are cyclically displaced one after another so as to form two deformed fundamental projecting and recessing patterns EL2 and EL3. The blocks are formed by successively arranging these three projecting and recessing patterns EL1, EL2 and EL3 in a direction vertical to the direction of the arrangement of the prism grooves.
