METHOD FOR COORDINATING PAGING OCCASIONS ON COMMON PAGING CHANNEL

PURPOSE: A method for coordinating paging occasions on a common paging channel is provided to reduce power consumption when a UE(User Equipment) is in a discontinuous reception state by synchronizing UE specific paging and PtM(Point-to-Multipoint) user group paging. CONSTITUTION: A physical paging channel is selected from a list of paging channels. A particular paging occasion is determined on the selected paging channel. The paging occasion is identified by a unique radio frame number. A temporary identity is used to synchronize paging services of both PtP(Point-to-Point) and PtM services. The selected paging channel is substantially equivalent to the temporary identifier mod K. The frame number is substantially equivalent to {temporary identifier/K}mod {discontinuous reception cycle length}+n*{discontinuous reception cycle length}.
