PURPOSE: A color filter substrate and a method of fabricating the color filter substrate are provided to reduce a step height caused by a color filter without forming an overcoat. CONSTITUTION: A color filter substrate includes a black matrix(220) formed on an insulating substrate(210), red, green and blue color filters(230R,230G,230B) respectively formed at regions defined by the black matrix, and a planarization pattern(231) formed on the black matrix located between the color filters. The color filter substrate further includes a reference electrode(270) formed on the color filters and planarization pattern. The planarization pattern is formed of the same material of one of the red, green and blue color filters. The color filters have the same thickness as the thickness of the planarization pattern. |
