PURPOSE: A method for sensing and controlling a state of fire in a microwave oven is provided to determine correctly the state of fire and prevent the damage by comparing measured resistance values of the first and the second thermistors with a reference value. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs an operation control signal to output the heating energy in a microwave mode or a grill mode. Each resistance value of a first and a second thermistors(40,45) of a microwave oven is detected during a predetermined period after the heating energy is outputted. A state of fire is determined if the sensed resistance values of the first and the second thermistors(40,45) approach a reference value. The power of a power supply(15) is blocked after the state of fire is determined.
