PURPOSE: A carpet with improved water repellency and a process for preparation of the same are provided to obtain enhancement of anti-bacterial and anti-fungi properties and to protect the carpet from penetration of dirt. CONSTITUTION: The carpet is produced by steps of removing fluff residues such as embossing(24) in napped yarn(22) at edges of the carpet(20) and brushing the carpet; spraying water repellent agent to the napped yarn at the carpet edges by means of sprayer; applying the water repellent agent over entire of the yarn to be distributed uniformly to the carpet; and drying the carpet. During proving the water repellent agent, the carpet moves at a velocity of 30-40cm/second and the water repellent agent is sprayed in an amount of 5-7g/m¬2 per surface area.
