PURPOSE: A liquid drop discharge device, a method for manufacturing an electro-optical device, the electro-optical device and an electronic apparatus are provided to work accurately and efficiently by automatically and finely adjusting the work gap between a work piece and a functional-liquid drop discharge head. CONSTITUTION: A liquid drop discharge device(1) is composed of a functional-liquid drop discharge head(10) arranged to a work piece(W) with a nozzle face facing in parallel therewith, gap measuring units(15) measuring the work gap between the surface of the work piece and the nozzle surface, and a gap adjusting unit(32) adjusting the work gap by relatively moving the functional-liquid drop discharge head and the work piece in the vertical direction on the basis of the measured result of the gap measuring units.
