A hollow ceramic fibre (1), especially useful as a membrane for microfiltration, ultrafiltration or gas separation, has a cylindrical wall (3) with a cross-section including a number of protruding curved sections (5) extending over an angle of several degrees. The sum of these angles is greater than 360 degrees. An Independent claim is also included for an exchanger comprising a bundle of these spaced apart fibres secured at both ends to a common flange.
