PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength variable light source device which is reduced in a spontaneous emission light component and improved in output power by making the selective wavelength of a variable band-pass filter follow (vary synchronously) easily so as conform to a wavelength change of the light source. SOLUTION: The wavelength variable light source device is provided with an APC control circuit 31 keeping light inputted into the variable band-pass filter 32 at a prescribed value and furthermore equipped with a branching means 36 which enables a part of the output light of the variable band-pass filter to branch off and a wavelength following means 37 which follows the selective wavelength of the variable band-pass filter, corresponding to the light branching off through the branching means 36.
