PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting drive for an elevator capable of facilitating maintenance without need for removing the lifting drive for an elevator from a stationary frame. SOLUTION: This lifting drive includes a fixing member 2, a sheave 3 which rotates relatively to the stationary member 2 and is wound with a rope 4, a driving motor 6, a braking device 60, and a reduction gear 20 which decelerates the rotation of the driving motor 6 and outputs it to the sheave 3. On one side of the stationary member 2, the sheave 3, the braking device 60, and the reduction gear 20 are disposed, on the anti-stationary member side of the reduction gear, a lubricant oiling/discharging port is provided, and on the anti-stationary member side of the brake device, an operation mechanism is provided.
