PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key that can be improved in portability by reforming a key section housing a transponder although the key section gives the user troubles, because the section is always protruded from the end section of the main body of the key and caught in a pocket, or the like. SOLUTION: This electronic key 40 is constituted of a main body 41 housing an LF-band reception antenna 24 and the key section 42 housing the transponder 22. On the end section of the main body 41, the key section 42 is rotatably supported through a rotating shaft 47.In addition, a key housing section 46 is formed on the inside of the outer peripheral edge of the main body 41 and the key section 42 is constituted so that the section 42 may be moved between a used position A at which the section 42 is protruded from the main body 41 and a housed position B in the key housing section 46.
