PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite wire of a corrosion resistant aluminum or an aluminum alloy superior in corrosion resistance, which does not need to be applied with a corrosion preventive grease, even if being used in such a severely corrosive environment as in an area close to ocean and an area affected by acid rain. SOLUTION: A core wire of the aluminum or aluminum alloy has a coating of an aluminum alloy formed on the surface with thermal spraying. The coating comprises 1.0 to 3.5 mass% Mn and the balance Al with unavoidable impurities among which Cu is regulated to less than 0.1 mass%, Fe to less than 0.35 mass%, and Si to less than 0.5 mass%. A ratio of an amount of dissolved Mn to the total Mn in the coating of the aluminum alloy can be 90% or higher. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
