PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of blowing fuel to a blast furnace, which improves air permeability and liquid permeability in the lower part of the furnace. SOLUTION: In an blast furnace operation method for blowing the fuel from a tuyere of the blast furnace, this operation method is characterized by making WSR, namely an amount of raceway slag formed around an raceway, (Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>)R, namely a ratio of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>in the raceway slag, and WSB, namely an amount of formed bosh slag originating in a charged raw material, satisfy the relationships expressed by (Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>)R≤0.30, and WSR/WSB+((Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>)R-0.30)/5<0.24. A blown fuel from the tuyere is preferably one or more of pulverized coal, tar, fuel oil, and waste plastic. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
