PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inhibitor of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine formation, inhibiting the formation of the 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine related to an aging mechanism of the skin; to provide a skin care preparation for external use by using the inhibitor; and to provide a method.

SOLUTION: The inhibitor of the 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine formation contains a component derived from a leaf of guava as an active ingredient. The skin care preparation for external use contains the component derived from the leaf of the guava as the inhibitor of the 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine formation. The method for inhibiting the formation of the 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine involves supplying the component derived from the leaf of the guava.
