RECORDING/REPRODUCING METHOD OF OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND OPTICAL MEMORY ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the dissipation of a recorded part from the material surface of an optical memory element by using a photochromic compound having the remarkably small ring-opening quantum yield for the optical memory element, and also to prevent the deterioration of a signal of the recorded part from the surface of an optical recording system by the recording operation utilizing the two photon absorbing reaction.

SOLUTION: The optical memory element 10 having a recording layer for the optical recording is housed in a cartridge 12, and opening parts 13A, 13B for passing a recording/reproducing light and an opening/closing member 14 enabled to shield them are arranged on the cartridge 12. The recording layer includes diallyl-ethene series compound having the ring-opening quantum yield of ≤5×10-3. The light in the wavelength region causing the ring-closing reaction by the absorption of the ring-opening body of this diallyl-ethene series compound is substantially cut by the cartridge 12 and the opening/closing member 14. The light in the wavelength region where the ring opening body of the diallyl-ethene series compound substantially does not have absorption, is used as the recording/reproducing light.
