<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet without affecting equipment mounting a motor, in particular, the equipment such as a hard disk drive, and to provide components for the motors and the motor. <P>SOLUTION: The permanent magnet 1 has a substantially cylindrical magnet body 11, a substrate layer 13 formed on at least a part of the surface, and a coating layer 12 forming the outermost surface. The coating layer 12 is mainly composed of a polyparaxylene resin. In addition, when an average thickness of the coating layer 12 in the side of the inner peripheral face of a magnet body 11 is Di[μm] and an average thickness of the coating layer 12 in the side of the outer peripheral face of the magnet body 11 is Do[μm], relation of Di>Do is satisfied. The average thickness Di of the coating layer 12 in the side of the inner peripheral face of the magnet body 11 is 15-35 μm. The average thickness Do of the coating layer in the side of the outer peripheral face of the magnet body 11 is not more than 15 μm.
