<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material containing silicon carbide which retains various shapes of large structures such as plants, complex-shaped structures and porous structures, a silicon carbide material and their preparation processes. <P>SOLUTION: The material containing silicon carbide is prepared by infiltrating a plant-derived carbon material with metallic silicon.
