<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and its control method where a throughput is improved without causing the up-sizing of the apparatus and the cost increase. <P>SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium by introducing an electrophotographic system, the apparatus is provided with a finishing means for performing prescribed finishing processing (for example, stapling) of recorded medium per prescribed number of sheets, and even in the midst of a finishing processing by the finishing means, the apparatus is controlled so that a prescribed mechanism part where a time required for restarting after a standstill exceeds a run time for the finishing processing is maintained to be driven, then, an operation of printing the following pages is instantaneously restarted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
