<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface to augmented reality space making it possible for an observer to operate a virtual object through simple action, without disturbing the sense of being absorbed into the augmented reality space. <P>SOLUTION: The augmented reality device includes a real space imaging means for imaging the real space at certain coordinates in certain directions; a virtual space image creating means for creating images of a virtual space where the coordinates set a viewing position, with the above directions serving as viewing directions; a position/direction detecting means for detecting the viewing position and direction; an augmented reality space image creating means for creating images of augmented reality space by superimposing an image of the real space on an image of the virtual space; an augmented reality space image display means for displaying images of the augmented reality space; and a virtual space control means for controlling and updating a virtual space object existing in the virtual space and the time of the virtual space according to given procedures. The device also includes a calculation means for calculating the relationship between the visual line of an observer of the image of the augmented reality space and the position of the virtul space object, and a selection means for selecting the virtual space object according to the result from the calculation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
