PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an audio precompensation filter design mechanism with respect to a design , mainly, of a digital audio precompensation, particularly, of a digital precompensation filter. SOLUTION: A filter parameter is determined based upon a weighting between approximating the precompensation filter to a fixed non-zero filter component, and approximating a precompensated model response to a reference system response. For design purpose, the precompensation filter is preferably provided with the fixed non-zero filter component and an adjustable compensator component. The adjustable compensator component is determined by optimizing a criterion function including weighting. The weighting is made frequency-and/or-channel-dependent to obtain a very powerful design tool for providing perfect control to the extent and amount of compensation to be carried out in different frequency regions and/or in different subchannels.
