PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector suitably reduced in size, since it secures a sufficient coming-off preventive force of a terminal fitting even, when reduced in size. SOLUTION: A female housing is provided with a cavity 41 in which a female terminal fitting can be inserted, and a lance 43 which can be arranged in the cavity 41 and can be elastically locked with respect to the female terminal fitting to be inserted. In the female housing, an opening part 64 which can form a locking surface 58 with respect to the female terminal fitting in the lance 43 is formed to be opened forward. At the lance 43, the portion which is formed so that both the front and rear ends are supported and protrudes forward from the locking surface 58 is coupled to side faces 64b and 64c generally along the deformation direction of the lance 43 among the circumferential surfaces of the opening part 64.
