EMERGENCY WARNING DEVICE FOR PORTABLE TERMINAL AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING FALL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency warning device for use in connection with a cellphone or a portable terminal such as a PHS (personal handyphone system) by means of a simple device to automatically transmit an emergency signal to a predetermined destination if the owner has fallen and cannot operate the portable terminal on his own will; to provide a method for recognizing a fall to prevent false warning when the warning device is in use. SOLUTION: The emergency warning device is used in connection with a portable terminal to automatically signal a predetermined destination according to how much the terminal owner is leaning his body. The device comprises a connection means for making a connection by being plugged into an expansion connector provided in the portable terminal; a lean sensing means for sensing the lean angle of the owner from an upright position; and a determining means for determining whether or not the owner has fallen according to the lean angle coming from the lean sensing means and the duration of his leaning position. When the determining means determines that the owner has fallen, an emergency signal is transmitted to the predetermined destination from the portable terminal connected via the connection means.
