A liquid-discharging device comprises nozzles for discharging liquid, a movable head, a transporting unit for transporting a medium in a predetermined direction, and a sensor for detecting an end portion of the medium, and controls the liquid discharge from the nozzles. The liquid-discharging device is characterized in that the position to which direction the sensor is transported is the same position as a nozzle out of the nozzles which nozzle is at the most upstream side in the transportation direction or is on the upstream side in the transportation direction. This enables setting of the sensor for detecting an end portion of a paper at the most appropriate position, and enables preventing ink that is discharged from the nozzles from being wasted.
