<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical path switching apparatus capable of detecting a fault. <P>SOLUTION: This invention provides the optical path switching apparatus for improving a conventional optical path switching apparatus that receives an optical signal packet from a network and allows a path control section to select a network of an output destination depending on a destination address of the packet so as to perform path switching control. The optical path switching apparatus of this invention is provided with: an optical switch for switching a path when receiving a current or a voltage from the path control section to output an optical signal to a network of the output destination and for selecting a path used in a fault state when not receiving the current or the voltage from the path control section; and a fault detection section for detecting a fault of the path control section on the basis of a light power level of the optical signal received from the path used in the fault state in the optical switch from the path control section when receiving the optical signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
