<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shielded blood collecting set and a needle assembly used in the blood collecting set. <P>SOLUTION: This needle assembly has a needle cannula 20 having a puncture tip part at a distal end, a hub 30 for supporting the needle cannula and a shield 40. The hub and the shield are mutually movable in the axial direction between a first sampling position where the puncture tip part 28 is exposed from the shield and a second shield position where the shield covers the puncture tip part. A gauze pad 56 is connected through a tether 58 to the shield. After a venipuncture procedure, the gauze is held over the needle puncture tip at the puncture site, and the needle is withdrawn out of a patient by pulling on the hub 30. This movement causes the tether to tightly extend between the gauze and the shield, which causes the needle puncture tip to be drawn into the shield. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
