OPERATIONAL CONDITION MONITOR FOR PHOTOCOUPLER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a photocoupler even under a severe working environment.

SOLUTION: The operational condition monitor for photocoupler comprises a means AC for detecting the operational condition of a photocoupler 6 built in an apparatus and being used for transmission/reception of a signal based on the signal level on the output side of the photocoupler 6 when a light emitting element on the input side is driven to emit light. When the photocoupler is used under a severe working environment, output signal level of the photocoupler is varied upon driving the light emitting element to emit light as the optical output from the light emitting element on the input side of the photocoupler lowers. But deteriorated condition of the photocoupler can be grasped accurately by monitoring the output signal from the photocoupler when the light emitting element is driven to emit light.
