ARITHMETIC DEVICE FOR OBSERVATION PROBABILITY OF HIDDEN MARKOV MODEL ALGORITHM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic device for observation probability of hidden Markov model algorithm. SOLUTION: The arithemetic device includes a storage device which stores means of parameters extracted from representative phonemes and the degree of distribution of mean values, a subtractor which calculates differences between means provided from the storage device and parameters extracted from a speech signal to be recognized, a multiplier which multiplies the output of the subtractor by the degree of distribution provided from the storage device, a squaring unit which squares the multiplication results of the multiplier, and an accumulator which accumulates the output of the squaring unit.
