PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator of a rotary electric machine improved in operativity in inserting a coil assembly into a slot and improved in insulating characteristics after the insertion. SOLUTION: An insulator 4 is formed in a 2-layer structure using paper on a stator coil side by using resin on a stator core side, or formed in a 2-layer structure of a configuration reverse to the former configration. Slots 2a are extended in the axial line direction. A cylindrical stator core 2 in which the stots are arranged in a plurality of numbers circumferentially at prescribed pitches and a stator coil 3 wound around the core 2 constitute a stator 8 as an armature.
