PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for preventing a reflecting plane from being metallic tone in a light unemitting condition. SOLUTION: A backlight 10 has a top emission structure. An organic EL element 17 is formed by laminating a reflecting electrode 13, an organic EL layer 14 and a transparent electrode 15 in order on a substrate 11. The organic EL element 17 is sealed by a passivation film 16. In the backlight 10, light is taken out from the passivation film 16 side. Minute unevenness is formed on the surface 21 of the upper side of the transparent electrode 15 on the light outputting side from the reflecting electrode 13. The boundary part between the transparent electrode 15 and the passivation film 16 is composed as a scattering member 22 for scattering the light. Since the scattering member 22 is a portion other than the reflecting electrode 13, the outdoor light 25 is scattered twice altogether before and after reflection. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
