PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus such that a fixing roller and a pressure roller have long lifes, a nip is never formed in an extreme projection shape, and external heating with good efficiency can be carried out. SOLUTION: A fixation-side heat roller 53 which has a heater 55 inside abuts against the fixing roller 51. A pressurization-side heat roller 54 which has a heater 56 inside abuts against the pressure roller 52. The fixing roller 51 has a core bar 57a and a first elastic layer 58a formed around it and the pressure roller 52 has a core bar 57a and a second elastic layer 58a formed around it. The first elastic layer 58a and second elastic layer 58b have 20 to 70°asker C hardness. The difference in asker C hardness between the first elastic layer 58a and second elastic layer 58b is≤20°. The ratio of the layer thickness of each elastic layers to the roller diameter is 7 to 40 %. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
