PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make vertical distortion smaller when a booklet is printed and to prevent right and left pages from having different shadows in the vicinity of the center. SOLUTION: The scanner has a travel body 2 which is driven in a direction A perpendicular to a longer side (b) among the longitudinal side (a) and lateral side (b) of an original platen 1, and an image can be read out of even a saddle stitch document such as a booklet while expansion and contraction are reduced at the upper and lower end.
