摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality light source device which accurately reads image information that is faithful to the gray level of a manuscript and to provide an image reading device having the light source device. SOLUTION: A light source device 1 is provided with a fluorescent tube which emits light beams having a light emitting peak value located at a green color e line (the e line of Fraunhofer's ray) and is used to read a black and white manuscript. A fluorescent tube 1 is provided with an opening section 1b through which luminous flux is radiated. A sign of 1a represents a tube wall of the tube 1, which has a cylindrical shape and covers a light emitting section 1c having a luminance surface which is extended along a one dimensional direction. An absorbing means 3 having a belt shape is provided to absorb luminous flux in a portion of the outerperipheral direction (an outside surface) of the wall 1a. The means 3 has a color material corresponding to the light emitting spetroscopics of the luminous flux being radiated from the section 1c. A number of 11 represents a socket and formed on the tip part of the wall 1a. A manuscript 10 is placed on the surface of a platen 7. The reference numeral 2 represents a reflective member, which is arranged at the place opposite to the device 1. The member reflects a portion of the luminous flux that are not directed to the surface of the manuscript 10 to enhance the illumination effect of the platen 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
